It's been ages since I've been on here !- I hope you're all well and dandy !

Question :
Out of curiosity - have any of you had a fungal infection of the toes nails ? Basically for me it was mainly the big toe nail had yellowed and very hard and thick to cut.

I've just finished a 6 month course of terbinafine tablets and have been using a prescribed nail varnish twice weekly.
The fungal infection has I'd say about 75% cleared up - but my nail still looks a bit yellow so it's not "perfect"

The problem is, a couple of weeks ago I inadvertently cut this toe nail probably a bit short on one side.
Today I noticed my toe has started to feel slightly sore. No swelling or anything - could I have the start of an ingrown toenail ? ( looks a bit like it )
I've contacted my GP for advice, awaiting response.

Worse case scenario ? my toe gets chopped off - if it gets horribly infected after some nail removal procedure ? ( hopefully this is pretty rare ! )
Best case scenario - maybe treatment with some kind of medication sorts it out ?
Medium case scenario - partial trimming of the toenail and antibiotics etc, clears it all up eventually but uncomfortable for as much as 12 weeks ?.. ....with much faffing about cleaning it / checking it etc and no swimming, beach stuff or anything ?

Any tips / advice - possible solutions ?

I'm not worried.... well maybe a little bit !....

Any advice is appreciated,
Thanks,

Shoran

Maybe applying a bit of antiseptic cream would help.
My toe nails need to be softened with oily lotions or they become more curved. With the lotion they remain flat which is far more comfortable
Whilst not something to be disregarded, I'd not be too worried just yet. See if there is anything suitable in the bathroom cabinet.
