Just recently i have gotten into the habbit of waking up dead on or around 3am in the morning. And i have to pee it's so anoying because i cannot seem to get back to sleep.

According to a recent New Scientist article it is well known in past literature for people to have what is called "two sleeps" (or something like that!).

Apparently, it used to be quite accepted to be awake at some unearthly hour .... do whatever came naturally .... and then go back to sleep again.

However, I don't think that is what you're experiencing if you can't get back to sleep again!

Hopefully, whatever is up clears soon.

Andy

This has been happening for some time but recently it becoming more frequent and not just 3am i can wake a couple of times and need to pee.

Do you test your own BG levels wakman?

Increased need to wee can be a sign that your kidneys are under strain from higher than normal BGs

I don't know how old you are, but these are also the symptons of Prostate Gland trouble.

3am is about the time you will be at your lowest BG during the night. Whilst it may be something to do with your prostrate it could have other causes, have you check your medicines to see if any are diuretic?

Not necessarily - this stat is from the old days of Mixtard insulins and doesn't really apply any more.

If you're needing to pee twice in the night, something's up - as others have mentioned, this could be a sign that your BG control can be improved or there might be a prostate issue.

Finally, in the most tactful way possible.....how old are you? Isn't having to get up to pee in the night also a general symptom of aging?

I thought the 3am time was to do with there being a low hormone production at that time..............ie, an hour or two before the bodies internal clock went off and got us going.......

no?

Yes - often counter regulatory hormones are at their lowest ebb at around this time so- although modern insulins have improved the situation as their peak in action is very nuch less pronounced- some people still have a tendancy to hypo at these times

3am is the only time I've had hypos and I regularly wake up at this time. It could also be some unusual noise that starts and stops before you wake up. If I wake up for whatever reason I always go for a pee. There are lots of reasons why this may be occurring and only a GP can determine the answer. I don't think it's very helpful saying it may be a prostrate issue without a proper diagnosis.

Wakman sorry to hear about your disturbed nights sleep, I'm up twice in the night to for a loo visit have been past three months

Don't reckon scaremongering and mentioning prostate helps btw

Best get to the doctors only they can tell you what's up,not us Simising

I would hope it ain't ageing in my case I'm oly 29 I put my visits down to 3 litres of water I get through a day

Nobody is scaremongering, the prostate gland enlarges naturally with age, and then pushes onto the bladder. It is a simple procedure to fix using medication only.
Hope this clears any misunderstanding up.
