The medication is one which encourages in a round about way the pancreas to produce more insulin. One of the more common side effects is headaches. Drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol is recommended but is the symptoms persist for more than a week you should consult your GP.

Thank you so much for your reply my headaches have been going on for the 5 weeks that I have been taking Sitagliptin I did speak to my surgery who said it will take time to settle down but will go back this week and get some advice.

From the NHS website.
The most common side effect of sitagliptin, which happens in more than 1 in 100 people, is headaches. Talk to your doctor if headaches last longer than a week or are severe. If taking sitagliptin gives you a headache, make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Do not drink too much alcohol.

Sorry to hear about the headaches you are getting with Sitagliptin / Januvia @Chel50

It sounds like it would be worth booking an appointment to see your GP/nurse to let the, know about the headaches, as it may be that your body isn’t getting on too well with the new med.

Do mention the odd feeling in your tummy too, as there!s a potentially more serious (but much rarer) side effect that can lead to pancreatitis in a few cases.

There are several other classes of meds your Dr could try if the Sitagliptin isn’t suitable for you.
