Well that was a weird one!

Woke to a gently pottering 5.something this morning.

Got up and ready, dosed for breakfast, had a coffee and waited.

After my customary 20something minutes I checked to see how things were progressing and saw what I thought was a major liver dump up into the 9s.

Bah! I thought, better leave that another few minutes. Another 10-20 minutes later sensor glucose still stuck in the high 8s; but my ‘feeling a bit hungry for breakfast’ clarified into clanging hypo symptoms.

8.8 on the sensor. Fingerstick 3.0 😱

Rapid full sugar Coke and toast consumed. The calibration was rejected (too far away from sensor glucose). 15 minute reset calibration was 4.7.

Just goes to show, we can provide narratives for unusual BG wobbles on sensor traces (and mostly they can be exactly what is happening)… but occasionally you’ve got to trust your instincts!

Oh no!

I hadn’t hypo in months until this week as I’d been running high, but now that bgs are much more normal they’re creeping back in. I woke in the night last night feeling rubbish, checked sensor and it said low so I thought oh must have been lying on it (same had happened previous night and finger had said 4.5, I do feel low at that).

Anyway lay on correct arm and tried to go back to sleep but thought to myself o really this doesn’t feel good I’ll check… 3.2 on fingerprick!

So agree with the trust your instincts and fingerprick if sensor feels suspicious!

Sorry you had such a wobble Mike. I have not had that as yet, but as you say it is important to go with your gut feeling and when in doubt use of BG rather than SG results. A cautionary tale.
