MEP Simon Busuttil hosted the 4th EU Diabetes Working Group meeting on the theme ?Diabetes and depression? at the European Parliament in Brussels.
?We are putting diabetes on the European agenda and we are tackling the various issues relating to diabetes at an EU level to ensure better coordination among EU countries,? Dr Busuttil said.
?This will help in the creation and implementation of effective healthcare policies across the EU, both for policymakers and for healthcare professionals.?
Richard Holt, Professor in Diabetes and Endocrinology from the University of Southampton, was the keynote speaker. He presented his findings on the relation between diabetes and depression.
