Hi everyone .
Been a long time since I have posted on here but am so grateful for this site .
Have had a niggling pain in my shoulder which seems to go down to my elbow . Feels a bit like a dull ache. Physio said I have arthritis ?? Does anyone else relate. Having anxiety doesn’t really help the situation ? Could it be carpel tunnel ? Any advice welcome x

Without knowing your history, it's likely your physio is correct if he has examined you and not just done a telephone consult. However what they don't always tell you is that damage to bones in your neck and shoulder region from arthritis or injury can also press on nerve branches in the area which leads to referred pain in your arms and sometimes hands. Carpal tunnel or cubital nerve pain is felt primarily in the fingers, wrist and elbows.

If it is bothering you please get it checked. Nerve injuries take a long time to heal and can significantly affect your ability to carry out daily activities.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder pain @Spangle0581

I’ve had Frozen Shoulder at different times on either side, but that was a sharper pain and stiffness, more related to movement.

Good that you’ve been able to see a physio. Was that a private appointment? Or were you referred?

Thx so much for your quick reply and knowledge. x

I paid privately for the appointment . Did you frozen shoulder get sorted ?

Yes the both cleared up on their own. the NHS physio I saw with the first one said that Frozen shoulder typically has 3 phases each of the same length - getting stiffer, being stiff, getting easier.

First time they were about 9 months each, second time was much quicker, only about 6 months each.

When I had a trapped nerve in my spine, that was more of an ache, with occasional profound pain. That eased without surgery too. Just stretches and gentle exercise.

Have you been recommended any exercises that might help?

Glad you got sorted out. I do have exercises that I am doing . Feeling a bit low with it to be honest and want a quick fix but will keep up with the exercises. I have another physio appointment on Friday

I have arthritis in both shoulders also rotator cuff damage which was diagnosed from Xrays. I have had physio and also seen a chiropractor, both have helped but I find it difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep but during the day it is not too bad. I have various exercises to do.
Paracetamol, ibuprofen and voltarol gel all help a bit.

Constant pain is such a drag isn’t it :(

Hope your exercises provide some level of relief, and things ease for you soon.
