Now that i've been on DAFNE it's given me new light on having to carry my test kit round with me and a few other things.

What I was wondering is if in summer when it's sunny and warm and you go out and about without a jacket or a bag where do you keep your stuff? I'm a bloke so the only places i really have are my jeans pockets, however, one will have my phone in and the other will have my wallet in.

I've been thinking of maybe a shoulder bag that has a strap that goes over one shoulder across the other side of your body to under the opposite arm, then the bag will be on your back, but I want it to be a small bag enough to carry my test kit with strips etc and maybe a little book with some carb info.

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to get something like this or what they may be called?

They are called Man Bags. You can get them online or most big stores.

My husband uses a small bag for cyclists, which attaches to his bike, but also has a shoulder strap when he's not using his bike...

When we'll out with the dogs, he uses a larger bike/bum bag, it's not just the his mobile and D kit, you've go poo bags, training treats, balls as well as extra luccozade!

Ok I'll have a look in to those sort of bags.

I was also thinking maybe a little pouch that i can attach to my belt which would mean nothing being strapped over my shoulder. Really I just want it to be small and discreet but obviously large enough for my testing kit.

It's a shame my testing kit bag doesn't have a hoop on it to put a belt through.

.....my wife's handbag! 😉:D

Just be aware...if you buy a smallish sized bag, you might find you love your man bag, and wish you got a bigger one so you could start carrying around you iPad, and other stuff you would never think of! trust me...seen it happen with my hubby....he now has a man bag bigger than my handbag!!!

You can also look at some of the camera cases..

I've got a camera case with a locking Karbs (climbing thingy) for my insulin pump, for when I doing some heavy duty training with the dogs...

Hiya, you mentioned that you'd like to carry around a small book of carb info too. Can't really advise on the bag and luckily being a woman I don't have that to worry about but I can recommend or suggest purchasing the carbs and cals app if you have an iphone or ipod to carry instead. I absolutely love mine, it only costs 3.99, I rely on it so much when going out and trying new foods etc but also after some time from doing dafne you begin to 'just know' what certain portions and foods have!
If you have the internet on your phone, there is also the website 'diabeticseatout' which name well known eateries and the foods they serve.

Hope you find a solution to you 'baggage' dilemma...maybe you could invent a mans diabetic carry case which is discreet....you could be onto a winner and I'm sure Northie would allow you to plug the product on here!😉

I was just about to suggest this - there's a wide range of them in different sizes and you can definitely get them with belt loops. My camera bag for my SLR has belt loops! I can't imagine ever wanting to carry that on my belt though.

Bum bags are sometimes more convenient than belt loops because you can easily remove them eg if you sit down to dinner and don't want it on you (if you keep it in front it will collect crumbs, behind and it will be uncomfortable).

I wouldn't want a bum bag, I don't even use bum bags on holiday. They just aren't me.

I'm getting a small pouch that is meant for a device and i'm going to convert it. But while i'm using that i'm going to look a bit more for something that has a metal clip rather than a belt hoop. That way i can clip it on to my belt and easily remove it.
