Pizzas are notoriously difficult for people with diabetes to deal with :( I gave up eating them a few years ago now.

Hope your levels settle back to something less scary as the day progresses! 🙂

I've given up on takeaway pizzas too. Last one I had took 4 hours to peak.

I've found if I want a pizza I need to inject an hour AFTER eating because it takes so long to spike

now 12.3 so coming down, going out for a brisk walk with dog now. even though is throwing it down

It will soon stabilise Wayne but I understand the concern.

When I see the pizza shop leaflets pushed through my door now, I think they'd be better just dropping bags of sugar on the mat!
They're evil in their deliciousness! 😱

1hrs walk now 8.3 getting there is there any food that will help reduce it any more !

Hi I dont think food can reduce it but drinking more, preferably water will help.
I love pizza, so do have it occasionally.

I eat the Morrisons pizza the Tex Mex is my favourite. It states 80 carbs and I do 8 units and that's spot on. When I go to bed four hours later my readings are usually 6.0 or thereabouts.

before lunch now 6.5

Papa Johns is a nightmare because of the fat content and the way it affects the carbs. A slice on a large PJ's is about 50g of carbs and it's very easy to eat 4 or 5 in one go. The last time I had PJs I needed the equivalent of four days' worth of bolus insulin in 3 hours just to get back into single figures. It just sits in your stomach pumping out sugar for hours.

I always make my own pizza's home made base with a mix of plain and wholemeal strong flour, tomato topping with home grown tomatos that we cook down and freeze with mozarella and choritzo with anchovie topping. MMMM :D never have aproblem with BG going awol .

You could try using the be free wraps as a base if you want to make your own. The sweet potato ones are good too. Thin as a base but you could eat all of it

When I used to eat pizzas I'd inject twice for them. Once before the meal and then once an hour or 2 later - because of the all the fat it slowly but surely raises sugars over the course of many hours. Don't bother with em now cause it's too much faff =P

There are lots of low carb pizza base recipes on t' internet. My fave (as mentioned above in @Northerner 's post) is the fat head pizza. Needs very good parchment paper to roll it out on, as it sticks like glue. A cauli pizza base also works well, but you can't pick it up.
