Been sorting out my room today! rooting through a drawer i cam across my slender tone i used to use for my abs not so long ago!

Went on the website and was very disappointed to read:

"Do not use if wearing the device necessitates placement over areas at which drugs/medication are administered with injections (short or long term) for example hormone replacement"

Even though this is from the newer models information guide, i think it probably applies to mine as well :(

I dont know what harm it could do? maybe i shouldnt risk using it? It cost me ?80 when i bought it! back in the day when i didnt have to pay rent lol

If you inject in your tummy, and this is the area where you want to apply the device I can see that it might, for example speed up or otherwise interfere with the absorbtion of the insulin - I know that you are not supposed to inject into areas where the muscles will be very active (e.g. don't use legs when running) - the electrical impulses might even affect the insulin in some way (I don't know, just speculating!). You could try injecting somewhere where you aren't going to use the Slendertone 🙂

I thought that too :( Its an ab system so it goes mainly around the waist area. I inject all my novorapid in my tummy finding other places where i get the same absorbtion will be difficult....

Ah well i dont want to risk anything else going bad on me lol i could always sell it to pay for dental costs!! 🙂

You could inject in your bum, that's what I have been doing since the consultant told me to stop injecting in my tummy for a while. I've found I need slightly less insulin by doing so, but apart from that about the same 🙂

Ha i was actually already debating that as i already inject my levemir there...not one to do at the dinner table though...😉

Doesnt that area have a slower absorbtion rate? would i have to inject a while before i eat? you would think i would know all this by now! :(

It's supposed to be slower, but I haven't really noticed any difference 🙂 When out I still use my tummy! 🙂

Hmm maybe i will give it a go for a week or two see if its any better! i have noticed ever since diagnosis and injecting in my tummy, it has been sticking out alot more, dont know if this is anything to do with the insulin but i guess if i change the area for a bit i may notice a change 🙂

I was quite surprised really - the consultant asked to see my injection sites and told me to immediately change sites! I didn't think there was anything wrong, no lumps or anything, maybe a bit of bruising, but there you go! Might be time for you to change sites anyway! 🙂

Heya,

Don't forget that insulin is a growth hormone so even without lypos, it may naturally affect the area that is used for injecting? Bleeding typical or what!

Heya Alan,
I too never saw that I had lypos but as soon as I showed my dsn it was evident to her and my o/h(in the room at the time) could see it straight away. Mine were quite pertruding and took 6months to subside!!

Yea after a year and a half i think a change would be good, although may still have to use tummy for work lunches unless i can do it very skillfully lol
