I have had a really bad headache for the past two hour. I felt a bit funny so stopped washing up and now my mouth and left arm are numb. My mouth is like I have been to the dentist and my arms is painful pins and needles . I goggled it and it's freaked me out saying heart attack and call 999. I don't feel bad, just weird bloods are 7.7 and where 7.8 before tea so not to blame. It's been 15 mins the headache is coming back but my arm and mouth are still weird.
Should I call nhs direct?

Quick answer is YES. Co-incidentally, at work we were talking about headaches and one of my colleagues mentioned that the worst migraine she ever had caused numbness down her arms. Hope this helps.

I think you should call NHS Direct as you are obviously concerned about this. Or try calling your GP surgery and ask to speak to whoever is providing cover.

Look after yourself Phoebe. I think any time you go through all the questions on the net they end up telling you to go to A&E or phone for an ambulance!

I agree with the others Phoebe. Call for help now. Chances are it's nothing bad, but you should play safe.

Fingers are crossed for you. Better be safe & call them !

Oh Phoebe please get some help. Why don't you phone nhs direct for advice. Please do it.

Hi Phoebe, how are you this morning? Did you ring for advice last night? Hope all ok.

Hope you got yourself checked out last night Phoebe. If not do it today - if it WAS anything to be concerned about they will be able to tell, if not, at least you will know.

I would definitely get this checked out, to (hopefully) eliminate the possibility that it might be something serious.

Just over a year ago, I woke up with a numb/tingly left arm. I thought I had just lain on it awkwardly in my sleep, and trapped a nerve; but when the sensation hadn't gone away a few hours later, I went to A&E, and tests revealed that I had suffered a minor stroke. 😱 Fortunately no long-term consequences....

Pheobe,

I hope you are ok and have been seen at A&E x best wishes

Hi phoebe
Just saw this now - are you ok ? Hope all is well xx

How are you feeling Phoebe? When you have time give us an update as we care about you. OK?

Guys, thank you, I'm sorry for not getting back to you.

I meant to ay lunch but got a call.

I rested a bit last night and then I felt fine again. Maybe I should have rang but then I might have felt id wasted their time because an hour later I felt normal.

Called my doctors today and I am going in tomorrow half 3, she said to call straight away if it happens again.

I hope it's nothing. Freaked me out.

Thanks again , as always the support is amazing.

Xxx

Hi Phoebe, have only just seen this. Glad you have fully recovered but really glad you are seeing your gp tomorrow, better to be safe. Hope you stay well now though.

It only lasted less than an hour then just went. It was odd but I'll feel better.

It's not like me to worry, it's unnerving if I get worried :/

Today's update.

I have been to see the doctor, he did my diabetic check up too 🙂

He said it was strange because a migraine is normally one side or the other, and can affect nerves and cause numbness but again only on one side. He checked my blood pressure, fine. The back of my eyes for swelling in my head, fine.

Asked lots of questions and then he thought. Checked my results from blood tests all okay.

He said he isn't concerned it just 'odd' so he is booking me a CT scan just to check its nothing else. If it's clear then it's nothing, if not we take it from there.

He did say if it comes again to go straight to A&E where they can monitor me.

My diabetic check up both hb1ac and cholesterol high, 59 which I don't understand so asked for old money he said 5.9, is that right? And cholesterol was 5.1. He said they don't worry him but I should try to get them down.

So expect more posts from me about these 2 🙂

Great HbA Phoebe. Congratulations. and very well done.

I'm glad you're getting the oddity checked out/

59 is 7.5% in old money according to the converter link in the top bar

Ah well that makes more sense 5ish would be good, thanks x
