It is indeed, although I would say a couple of things: firstly, he was undiagnosed so had poor control, secondly he should not have waited until 'Day 10' to seek help, given what it was looking like just a couple of days in. 😱 Thankfully, his foot was saved 🙂
 
Yes, truly worst case scenario which sometimes does make you think. I will ask a chiropodist question in a separate thread as it has prompted me to get feet checked professionally, might be worth the cost.
 
I'm shocked that he didn't go to the doctor with that, he was in Switzerland
which has good health care.

Fortunately for him the antibiotics worked and in 3 years there was no recurrence.
Apparently his HbA1c was 10.5% and presumably his glucose had crept up and so he had no other symptoms.
