Nathan Filer's The Shock of the Fall, which won the Costa Book of the Year winner, has been hortlisted for 'Popular Fiction Book of the Year' in the 2014 Specsavers National Book Awards.

The debut novel from mental health nurse Filer, which explores themes of loss, grief and mental illness, with much of the book set in an NHS day centre in Bristol, has sold more than 300,000 copies in all formats.

To celebrate this sales milestone, The Borough Press are donating copies of The Shock of the Fall to the NHS SWIMS library network via the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and The Reading Agency.Copies will be distributed to NHS practitioners and patients in hospitals across the south west, and a reading guide will also be made available to download via The Reading Agency website.
