Shiny skin

Hey everyone,

Can T2 cause shiny skin around the neck and on the bottoms of the feet?

I've noticed an increase in this for me across the last 6 months - and my wife noticed it for the first time today.

I've read somewhere that it may be an indicator of increasing insulin resistance? Despite this, my latest HbA1C results show that I'm almost back down to pre-diabetic levels. 🙂

Any thoughts on 'shiny skin' would be most welcome!

It's nothing to do with diabetes. Shiny skin can be caused by excess oiliness, or the exact opposite - excessive dryness. It's not a sign of anything internal. First thing to try is a good moisturise treatment. No need to spend a fortune, Aveeno is as good as any. I always moisturise after shaving, because. using wet or dry shaving to a degree takes off the top layer of your epidermis. To be honest I don't know if I've got shiny skin on the bottoms of my feet, but whatever in your case it won't be due to shaving, unless you disappear at every full moon. Could be due to excessive oiliness, but the same treatment may well improve things.
