I am taking my son for a blood test in an hour, so 'tis my intention to take along the 5 sharps bins we have stockpiled in the garage. What are the chances of them accepting them do you reckon??? Will let you all know later.....

going by what others have said about zero, but if you never ask you never know. Good luck.

Good luck - we found that GPs and pharmacies in our area won't accept sharps bins so we have to ask the local council to collect them

The first ever one I took when our GP called to see him shortly after diagnosis. I took it right in to his office and handed it to him. He looked a little unsure, but took it all the same. I will try and offload these on the receptionist, if not the phleobotonist (spelling???), if not then I don't know!!

I looked on our council website some time ago when it was a thread on here and found they most definitely don't take them round here, said to contact your local surgery. Have asked in Boots and Superdrug, and as I got rid of the first ok have been lulled into a false sense of security I think. Oh well, fingers crossed!

Sounds like the surgery is the place to go, hope you don't run into The Rude Receptionists!

:D

My local council, environmental health department, told me they're in touch with all GP surgeries in my area regarding sharps bins. They said the place which issued the prescription for the sharps bin is obligated to take the full bins back and dispose of them. If they refuse the council will speak to them and resolve the issue on my behalf. Never had a problem taking them back to my GP surgery because of this.

Wow - result! Got rid of all 5 - EVEN GOT OFFERED A REPLACEMENT!!! Am I lucky or what!

If we don't hear back from you soon, we'll know you are off on your yacht .....
