Sensor problem

No it's fine - NHS get them from Abbott so all legit - fill in your details and do the form and they will send a replacement in a couple of days by Parcelforce - just had a read through your bio and hope the awfully named "Honeymoon Period" is going ok (mine was not a lot of fun and am not convinced it is over (nearly 3yrs in!))
Wow - that’s lasted a long time!
It seems to be going okay thanks. No two days are the same and I have different reactions to the same food / amount of insulin. Some foods I really don’t know how to treat e.g pizza but tbh I’m not worrying too much - just trying to stay with a good TIR
Just waiting for the day - everything changes big time and I have none of my own insulin at all

If you just order another through your NHS repeat, the NHS end up paying for it. Reporting it to Abbott means they pay for the failure, not the already cash strapped NHS.
I’m glad I know that now - and will always do this in the future ☺️

Bleeders make good readers (most of the time!) but when they don't work at all, report report report

Yes, if Abbott wants the sensor, they will only want the sensor. They will send packaging
It is rare that they ask for them. But good to keep it , just in case.
They have always wanted mine back! 🙂

Didn’t realise serial number was on app, I struggle to see it on side of sensor, usually end up going through wheelie bin for the empty box
Yes, I need to take a photo of it with my phone. I tend to try and keep the box (and applicator) for the current sensor just in case, though the serial number is easily available in the apps (or reader, if you use a reader).

Hopefully you’ll get a replacement @ET6

Always worth putting the request in. The NHS have paid for the sensor, so Abbott need to provide ones that work. 🙂

Hi @ET6, I also had similar issues to yours about three weeks ago. Contacted Abbott and they were brilliant advising me that they would replace the existing one and asking me to send the original one back. They quickly sent the replacement and the packaging to send the damaged one back. I found the process quick and easy to do.

The only benefit I had was that I had a spare sensor (I had ordered two as I buy privately) so could replace the damaged one quickly. You might be able to get a replacement from the NHS and then you can use the replacement when that ends but I am not sure about their policy on this type of issue.

It is usual to be prescribed two or more Libre at a time. Some surgeries limit when to reorder but it is common to have a spare: the advice is to order a replacement when we have one remaining.
One of the side effects of reporting a failed sensor to Abbott is the extra days between reordering the prescription.

Abbott have already replied which was quick! Luckily I get two in a prescription and had my second one ready to go, which seems to be working fine

Glad you’ve had a speedy response @ET6 🙂
