SEFTON?s GPs have decided to write to their patients in a bid to tackle obesity.
More than 120,000 adults and a quarter of five year olds are overweight or obese in Sefton.
The problem is stretching health services in the borough, and the problem is currently costing the NHS ?5bn each year.
Obesity increases the risk of developing diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer such as breast and colon.
