So yesterday I got to go and meet the new consultant here in Oxford at the Churchill hospital.
Overall a productive appointment I think. The new doctor has her head screwed on straight and is quite happy to let me carry on as I am. She seems to trust my decision making abilities in terms of being able to react to patterns and such.
I boldly asked about CGM funding and was told that there wasn't the money. However, I think there may well be the opportunity to work this to my advantage. I'm happy to be the first man in on that one!
I had the usual clinic bloods done. I even had a coeliac screen. I'm getting the results of this back in a while. That said, I don't need to worry about Coeliac disease given the amount of beer and pizza I pack away.
I seem to have lost a bit of weight recently as my general insulin needs are reducing. I weighed myself at the chemist the other day as I was bored out of my skull waiting for the 'script to be done. In full wander around Oxford in sub zero it'd seem I'm fourteen stone seven pounds. Happy days. I was nearer fifteen stone after Christmas.
I'll be interested to see what effects nursing has had on my HbA1c. I've got good feelings about this one.
I've also been given the location of my next placement which starts in a little under three weeks from now. It's the local neuroscience unit. Fantastic!
I don't even have to house train this one either. Fantastic! Quite a nice relationship with her which is great.

Until the next time I can be bothered!

Tom
