Type 2
Having being diagnosed a year ago type2 and not done good I’m on Metformin starting today so have to do something about it now. I’ve always eaten seeds on salads, breakfast cereal which I intend to cut out now, yoghurt, Qwark cheese etc and walnuts with the above too , is this ok or am I doing the wrong thing need help please and thank you

Thanks Leadinglights I bought some last week as someone else recommended them, could only get 2 flavours but that’s fine, obviously not as sweet as I’m used to but better for me had them with blueberries and a few raspberries thanks for the recommendation anyway

You will find as you reduce the 'sweet' things you have your tastes will change and things you previously had will taste just too sweet and sickly.
When in hospital the normal yoghurts were too sweet and I had to scrape the chocolate of an eclair I has chosen in preference to sponge pudding and custard.
Sadly hospital food not conducive to low carb diet.

You would think a hospital would be spot on with a healthy menu , they are quick to tell us to eat healthily to keep us out of hospital maybe that’s why !

There are as many definitions of “healthy” diet as there are dieticians.
Part of this is that what is healthy for one person with a certain lifestyle and medical condition is not as healthy for another person with a different lifestyle and medical condition.
Low carb is “healthy” for a 70 year old with type 2 diabetes who is unable to exercise but a 30 year old who exercises a lot and has a heart condition may need to focus more on lowering their fat but increasing their salt.

(I am not a dietitian so these examples may be far from correct.)
