Hey, Just wondered what everyone's experiences were like with phoning for test results.

Yesterday was the first time I've done it (still no answers as nobody seems to know where the results have gone!!), but before talking to me, they said they had to ask security questions - which i totally get. They then went on to say "Is your DOB **/**/****?" now call me stupid, but I don't really see that as a security question! surely I should be telling them my DOB, not just confirming if they've got it right!!

Just made me chuckle a little bit so thought I'd share 🙂

I know what you mean about security questions, although they could give you the wrong date of birth and someone who doesn't know might say yes. A couple of times I have been into the bank with my statement for money and they have asked for the first line of my adress which is ON the statement

Address and DOB I am asked at the GP too.................the clinic is fine as I get them there and then..........

I suppose with results such as these the information within is not that sensitive and useful to anyone else.........🙂

Actually, I phoned my GP surgery after having had blood taken for a thyroid test. I wasn't asked any security question. Name and address and that's it.

But for other calls, I've had questions I couldn't remember the answer and had to hang up/ring back later. Or they simply asked another question.

My surgery always ask for my date of birth as that's how they file us. The clinic always ask for that too. The pharmacy have recently started doing the same thing rather than just going by my address.

There is another person with the same name as me registered with my surgery and until recently she lived in the same road (about 3 houses away) so I am always asked my DOB

Good practice when establishing to whome you are giving information is to check three pieces of data eg name, DoB and address (number & street name and / or postcode, remembering that most postcodes cover a few homes).

There was another woman registered at same GP surgery, with the same (relatively unusual) name and DoB, at the time of my diagnosis, also with diabetes, which nearly led to some problems, although I quickly learned to insist on my identity by checking address as well.
