"Searching for sensor" - doing my head in!

After a fab start with my new system, I have had 48 hours of on and off connection. I keep receiving the 'searching for sensor' message. I initially rebooted the PDM, but no change. I then thought it could be a sensor issue, so I changed the Libre, but still no change.

At the orientation session we were told to keep sensor and Pod on the same side of the body to provide 'line of sight'. I just called Insulet who said that the pod and sensor need to be about 2 1/2 centimetres apart from each other. We were told not to do this at the orientation session. They said that it would limit/ cause issues with 'injection' sites as we would be using the same area for 15 days.

Any help greatly appreciated! It currently seems to be searching or about 15 minutes and then linked for a short period of time, repeat ad nauseum...

How frustrating for you @Ivostas66

I think @PattiEvans may be looping with Omnipod and Libre 2+, I’m not sure if she has had similar issues?

Yes I have this, often a day or two since change. Very rare when pod is worn adjacent to the Libre 2+ but this isn't possible all the time. Changing pods helps, often I'll change after 2 days, particularly if an emergency change is going to be inconvenient. Sometimes I've regained comms by switching to manual for 10mins (not always though)

Inconstancy and reliability is a right royal PITA

Similar but not exactly the same................
I use a Omnipod 5 pump and a Dexcom G6 sensor, they instruct you have them both located on the same side of your body or across your tum.
I wear mine on my upper arm, one above the other, with a finger width separating them and I don't get any connection drops.
They do advise that siting them say one on arm and one on leg does cause connection problems so I've gone for closer the better.

Regards

Thank you for the comments.

I am finding that they need to be on the same part of the body or connection continually drops out. I am popping the Libre 2 on my arm and rotating pods around it clockwise - not ideal as I have slim arms.

I find it works OK with the pod on my arm, or on my midriff on the side or slightly towards my back. If I put it in my back just below the waist it is OK too, but I have to ask hubby to site it there as it’s difficult to reach and get it properly stuck without folding the backing which renders it rather insecure. The last one I had on my midriff, but slightly forward and that did cause connection problems from time to time e.g. in bed when I sleep on my side.

I believe the G6/ G7 sensors are more reliable, but they cost more so funding is an issue. To be honest I am unconvinced that the HCL is that brilliant. I had Accuchek Combo pumps for 8 years prior to going on the Omnipod dash pump and despite being old technology they allowed me to get superb results.
