Cockles, whelks and dressed crab. The manager has just informed me that a fish van calls to ###### every Friday and offered to get me any seafood I want. Question wot are the carbs/cals like for these Am already drooling of the thought of them with a side salad next friday
Cheers in advance

Not my cup of tea but zero carbs.

As said, zero carbs unless you get something processed like crab sticks.

That sounds like my Dad's idea of heaven.
He doesn't do much in the kitchen but knows how to dress a crab and fillet a fish.
I gave up meat about 30 years ago but I have never given up seafood so it is one of the things we enjoy together.

Seafood salad is delicious freshly made. Don't forget a nice bit of lemon or lime on the side. You are making me hungry now

Thanks peeps No carbs think im going to have all 3 gready cow with a nice crisp side salad

I tried to dress a crab once, but it kept nipping me so I gave up.

I don't like cockles or whelks. However love fish. Today my sister and I had poached sea trout with carrot leek asparagus and a new potatoe each. The fish van I go to charges same for sea trout as salmon and I prefer sea trout. I usually buy hake sea bass trout mackerel or plaice but I've actually bought some tuna which I haven't cooked for years. He had sold out of Cromer crabs even though it was a little after ten. I will get crab next week.
Consider smoked mackerel or kippers too. I personally like buckling but it's not often available.

Enjoy yourself. Good fishmongers can encourage you to try different things. I tend to poach fish in water or cook in microwave.

This thread is making me really hungry again! I also prefer sea trout over salmon @saffron15 and I had hot flaked kippers with scrambled eggs on Tuesday night for dinner (zero carbs in that, although I did have a couple of slices of toast with mine)

@nonethewiser if you factor in the quick cooking and lack of waste it is affordable. I love herring when they are in season or smoked haddock. I enjoy most shellfish but things like clams and mussels I don't like the idea of cooking but enjoy in a restaurant or buying tinned or vacuum packed.

I love it all. King prawns or even better jumbo somewhere warm and sunny is my idea of heaven. All seafood I love it.
Cockles and whelks from a little beach shack in Wales - summer holiday memory unlocked. What did you go for @gail2 ?

Frozen cod , coley or salmon or tuna

Defrost

Fry in butter with onions and mushrooms

Schwartz or similar lemon , butter or parsley or chilli sauce

Serve with frozen green beans

Go for it! My partner and I love seafood and buy something every week from our fish van.

I love prawns with salad, tuna salmon and most fish cod haddock etc but not cockles whelks and crab
Me neither. Memories of a neighbour's grandchildren from London eating things from a jar with cocktail sticks.......we did not eat those things in Glasgow in the 50s / 60s. ...... never touched them since!!!!!
