Screaming omnipod 5

So I am not even 2 weeks into using the omnipod 5 and yesterday I had my first screamer, at 5.50am.
I couldn't even use the PDM to make it stop.
And even using a sewing needle in the kill button it would not stop screaming and the cat did not like the sound so he joined in
I tried boiling water, no impact. So had to take a hammer to it on the drive at 6am. And I can't report it as the little codes are unreadable now it is smashed up.
Urgh!

Oh my goodness @PhoebeC what a rude awakening!

Can you not report using the batch numbers from others in the same box?

I suppose, at least it wasn’t in a theatre/cinema/expensive gig. but still, a hammer on the drive at 6am is pretty desperate!

I will phone them. I did have 5 spare, when they sent 5's and not dash versions in error, before I upgraded so it hasn't impacted the amount I should have. It is such a stupid fault of theirs. I don't know why it does it

Luckily I was already up, that was the cat ha! So I don't feel too bad on him. I would have woken everyone else up too, and my daughter had a friend sleeping over

Can imagine neighbours looking out bedroom windows wondering what the hell you were doing @PhoebeC lol

Usual for me. Should have seen me at Halloween putting up a huge spiders web, I was out there for hours

Kill it with fire!!!!

(Seriously, don't, it may explode)

Is this a known thing with Omnipods???

Three separate members both having this experience without many years of use feels like a fairly high frequency?! 😱

Just got a screamer! I look forward to these! How does this one die……
A* In a vice?
B* Under a blow torch flame?
C* 10mm drill bit straight through it?
D* Under the wheels of my work van?
You decide
Bucket of water, then into the garden for a few days. (the water doesn't kill it but does muffle the scream into a low moan)

I’ve only ever had one, right at the start of using Omnipod, because I took it off without deactivating it. I was told to use an unbent paper clip in the little hole at the back. Thinking about it @PhoebeC a sewing needle has a sharp point whereas a paperclip is blunt. I wonder if the sharp needle wasn’t enough to depress the kill switch?

Number one adjuster........works for most problems

And as the saying goes....if at first you dont succeed, get a bigger hammer

Why do they scream? Presumably they are unhappy about something, but what is that? I presume it's the insulin delivery pod and it's trying to tell you that it's not working any more?

Sounds like a software glitch if they then get stuck in their unhappy state or perhaps they can't detect that they've been taken off and so continue to make sure you don't try to keep using it?

Well, they are disposable, so that may limit how well engineered they are.

If they were the same standard as a tethered, use for 4 years pump, they'd cos 2k plus a throw

It’s a fault I believe. I’ve had 3 since March 2023.

I’ve tried pins resetting devises or opening SIM/memory card drawers the past. The point always seem to miss the internal button? I’ve found the dewbury that comes with phones pretty good.

I’m on the dash but have only had one screamer in 2 years which was my first ever one!

I do let my pods run “past expiry” and use the additional 8 hours fairly frequently and have been in the supermarket wondering what that high pitched noise was before realising it’s me!! Always quite a funny moment (those ones can be turned off with the controller though)
