Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi everyone,
Re: my last message regarding my tummy troubles ( horrendous) with taking Metformin SR after nine years has been discontinued due to my tummy troubles which since I have stopped taking it I have been ok. I am now on 40mg Gliclazide morning and night. I have been taking 40mg gliclazide for several years along with Metformin and taking it about 20-30 mins before my evening meal. Not clear if I do the same in the morning as leaflet says take with breakfast. Any advice or experience on this? Thank you.

Welcome back @Scottie Lottie

Gliclazide works by encouraging your pancreas to release more insulin, so it makes sense to take it before meals, and to eat regularly. Skipping meals may mean you are more at risk of low blood glucose (hypoglycaemia).

Your Dr would often advise when to take your medicines, and you may find this information on the pharmacy label on the tablet box.

There are some helpful hints on this page
