The first study to investigate brain activity in "sex addicts" has uncovered remarkable similarities with people addicted to drugs.

There is some controversy about whether people can become addicted to sexual behaviours, including watching porn.

University of Cambridge researchers performed brain scans on 19 men watching pornographic videos.

They showed the same reward centres of the brain were activated as when addicts see their drug of choice.

Two of the men in the study had lost jobs through watching pornographic material at work.

People can become addicted to absolutely anything, whether it be drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, self-harming, chocolate or religion. It can be anything. Whatever the behaviour pattern, they get 'something' from it that they 'desperately' need and that perpetuates the behaviour which is why it's an addiction. The initial trigger for the behaviour may be different, be it trauma, or experimentation, but the resulting addiction triggers the same outcomes for an addict no matter what the 'drug' of choice. Counsellors have known this for yonks.

To be fair, if I had to pick an addiction I would pick this one lol:D
