CHENNAI: "I too have diabetes. Stop acting," That's how a teacher in a city school reacted when Class 10 student Aisha fainted in her class last month, when her blood sugar level dropped. The teacher threw a duster at the girl, injuring her forehead. The 15-year-old girl has been a type 1 diabetic since the age of four. Experts say it speaks about the ignorance among teachers while dealing with children with diabetes.
