Well finally we are packed for Hannah's school trip. They set off from school at 7 am tomorrow. As luck would have it, her readings have been all over the place for days so I am now just resigned to having to let her get on with it. It did occur to me today that I don't think we could have both coped if she was still on MDIs, so thank goodness for the pump! I have had to pack some of her clothes in her sister's suitcase to make room for all the equipment to cover every eventuality. If all goes to plan she will only need her PDM and her BG kit, but to cover the what ifs I have packed:
Spare pods
Emergency Spare PDM
Booklet for how to set up emergency PDM
Pens for novorapid and lantus with cartridges in case case her pump fails
Needles
Spare insulin for spare pods
Jelly babies/ glucose tablets in little portion sized bags
Cereal bars
Extra blood test and ketone test strips
Etc etc etc
It's almost as bad as it used to be when we were packing to go away with twin babies!!!
Deep breaths now and off we go. On the plus side I get to meet a friend for tea on Tuesday evening after work and....no kids!!
