Jen.h, phew what a carry on, it is difficult when you feel unwell and perhaps vulnerable but I would be phoning every day to either my GP or the consultant’s medical secretary. It is too serious to leave and their standard of care appears extremely poor. You need treatment and medication / insulin to manage your diabetes. You cannot go on a 20 week waiting list. I was type 2, then uncontrollable type 2, then had two ultrasounds and a CT scan and the GAD antibody test and C-peptide test. On reflection it did take several months but I was in constant contact with the diabetic nurse at the hospital. And was on medication then moved to taking insulin, and was seen by the consultant after four weeks to see how I was managing and if I had any questions. It wasn’t perfect and I did use this forum for helpful advice as my head was a mess at times.
My background is that I am retired two years having being a senior social worker for over 30 years, just hang on in there, and try and muster up some energy to get the service you need and deserve. Good luck and take care
