Scared and feel ignored

You could ring the hospital and ask to speak to the Diabetes clinic, then tell them that you haven't heard anything since the consultant pronounced you were LADA, and more recently in trouble with the deep hypo and not having heard a dicky bird since the diagnosis you definitely feel in need of expert advice - so are you on their radar to see them, or not - cos you want to be, please!

OR ring your GP and ask them when you'll get to see an expert to give you proper advice because you are certainly not happy being in receipt of none.

How much Gliclazide were you on @Jen.h ? I can’t understand what’s happening quite frankly. You seem to be getting random treatment.

@DaveB is LADA, I think. As well as your terrifying hypo, I’m concerned about the fact you’re going so high too. That’s not good and can cause damage over time.

It does sound to me like as well as being LADA you might be struggling with a bit of reactive hypoglycaemia. Being hypo means there’s more insulin than you need, which given you aren’t injecting any then your body has produced. I had low hypos in the 1s mixed with high bgs in the 20s before i started insulin. I think the simple explanation is that the body still produces some insulin at times but it’s quantity/timing is less than ideal! I agree with the suggestions to ring anyone you can today and ask for an urgent appointment, start with the diabetes department and the GP.

Hello everyone!
I’m not really sure what to say.
I was diagnosed with what was labelled ‘type 2’ diabetes when it was picked up in hospital about 9 months ago.
Blood sugar was out of control after that.
The consultant for my area was finally brought it and disagreed with the type 2
Diagnosis (I’m 34, 8 stone 4 but have a history of diabetes). He said LADA and type one. Decided to move me under the hospital care. Heard nothing else for 2 months. Almost died last last weekend because of a diabetic coma.
It sucks ,just make sure you stand firm with your doctor

Jen.h, phew what a carry on, it is difficult when you feel unwell and perhaps vulnerable but I would be phoning every day to either my GP or the consultant’s medical secretary. It is too serious to leave and their standard of care appears extremely poor. You need treatment and medication / insulin to manage your diabetes. You cannot go on a 20 week waiting list. I was type 2, then uncontrollable type 2, then had two ultrasounds and a CT scan and the GAD antibody test and C-peptide test. On reflection it did take several months but I was in constant contact with the diabetic nurse at the hospital. And was on medication then moved to taking insulin, and was seen by the consultant after four weeks to see how I was managing and if I had any questions. It wasn’t perfect and I did use this forum for helpful advice as my head was a mess at times.
My background is that I am retired two years having being a senior social worker for over 30 years, just hang on in there, and try and muster up some energy to get the service you need and deserve. Good luck and take care
