French drug giant Sanofi is stepping in to support research at Watertown biotech Selecta Biosciences that could forever change the way type 1 diabetes is treated.
Just days after a lab at Harvard University published its own research on how to make the bodies of patients with the diseased start producing their own insulin again, Selecta today announced an extension of its own research into a vaccine that could make such an approach possible. Both advancements are unrelated and the fact that they are being announced within days of each other is a coincidence.
