More than £173,000 has been raised for Diabetes UK over three years of the Bupa Great South Run.

Some 3,200 participants contributed to the fundraising total of £173,250, which is yet to take into account the money raised in 2014, the charity said.

The events in Portsmouth were just some of the 33 Bupa runs that have taken place over the last 36 months, which will see £1.5 million in total raised by 20,000 participants.

The money raised has funded 20 Healthy Lifestyle Roadshows in the South East area, at which 3,927 people were offered free risk assessments to help them understand their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
