YIKES! I've signed up to run the Bath Half Marathon in aid of Diabetes UK. Show your pity and laugh at my expense by visiting my Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/everydayupsanddowns

I understand that our esteemed Admin is also going to be running - so I guess he can add his own fundraising efforts to this thread too!

Good luck Mike, see you on the start line! 🙂 Haven't decided yet what charity I'm running for (or if I'll be male, female, animal or ethereal :D)

I think it's pretty safe to say I WON'T be joining you, boys :D When is the big day? Please keep posting this to the front as I am a bit skint post-Christmas as I am sure everyone is, but I WILL sponsor both of you, if only to make me feel less guilty of not competing myself!

Actually, I did do Race for Life 3 or 4 years ago. Took some friends along on the understanding that we all walked round, then, when they were all distracted, I ran the last 10 yards and beat them all over the line! Oh that was a wonderful feeling, beating all these slim, fit girls!! Everyone underestimated my competitive streak - it's all part of being a middle child I suspect!

Well done to both of you though, and GOOD LUCK!

Tina

Thanks Tina!

The race* is on Sunday 3rd March.

😱😱😱

*ha!

good luck both of you! only competitive run I've ever done was the Sport Relief mile run last year - loved it but fell out of running after that (I've always found running hard and could only do 2.5k at most!)

Give me my Combat and Jam classes anyday.....:D

I could do any 'Running the Bath' marathon or half-marathon anyone cares to arrange.

Happily, without getting out of breath.

Dunno what the fuss is all about?

Just what I was thinking! It's amazing what one can do with a turn of the wrist!

Andy 🙂

Good luck with run ! Well done for making an effort to support others 😎

Ah but it's two turns of the wrist for every bath (presumably a baker's dozen in a half marathon) isn't it, unless you're happy with overflows?

Good luck with the run, very brave - have you started training yet? 🙂

Thanks Amanda! Very much appreciated!

Thanks Hanmillmum - Monday!

I decided just before coming to bed I could dig deep and find a little something to get your fund raising off the ground, then found I was beaten to it - twice. Hmph! Oh well, another donation made, hopefully you'll be up to your total, and beyond, sooner than you dared hope.

Well done and good luck.

Tina xx

Thank you very much Tina!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. Much appreciated!

I had a mad idea over the weekend of trying to concoct an 'insulin pump' costume maybe with foam panels covered in cotton or something...

Does that sound mad?

Mike

Suitably so! :D Word of advice though - make sure it's not too hot, not likely to fall apart, doesn't chafe, and you can actually run in it! A possible downside to the idea is that most people probably won't know what you are supposed to be. You might be able to get a mobile phone outfit and adapt it 🙂

It's staying firmly on the back burner for a good while yet - I need to work out how hard I'm going to find the run itself before I make any kind of plans for an outfit!

I guess your fairy costume will be staying in the wardrobe this time?

I have some ideas for this year, but keeping them under wraps for now! 🙂

My instant thought Alan - too ruddy hot!

Mike if you look up a few t-shirt slogan ideas on t'other forum (prior to the very first summer meet, on the Archive forum if anywhere) - you may get some alternative ideas?
