Ron Saunders, 81, was one of 23 Victorians presented a Kellion Victory Medal from Diabetes Australia on Monday last week, following his perseverance in living with the disease for half a century.
He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of the 31 - the same time the couple were married.
