Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi i am another newbie. Had a heart attack quite suddenly. Was in full time work, loving it as well. The diagnosed with diabetes, cannot get blood sugars under control. 61 years full of health, now pill popping & finger pricking & getting more depressed

Hi Roberta, welcome to the forum 🙂 Very sorry to hear about the heart attack, and the diagnosis of course. I hope that you are well on the road to recovery from your heart attack.

It is good you have found us! There is a wealth of knowledge and experience here, and everyone is very happy to offer you help and support whenever they can, so please don't hold back with any questions you may have, or anything that is concerning you - no question is considered 'silly' 🙂

Try not to worry, you will get there with your diabetes. As a starter, I would suggest you browse our Useful links thread. The book Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker is highly recommended as a great introduction.

Have you been given a testing meter and instruction on how to use it so that you can determine the best (and worst!) foods for you? Diabetes is a very individual condition, so you need to find out how things affect you personally.

Are you on any medication specifically for your diabetes?

Welcome from me Roberta............😉

Roberta hi and a warm welcome to the forum

Hi Roberta, welcome to the forum🙂

Welcome to the forums Roberta 🙂

Welcome Roberta - hope you find the forums useful. Have you spoken to your Dr about the way you are feeling. I know that people who have had problems with their heart are meant to be screened for depression as are those with Diabetes.

Dealing with a chronic condition can be difficult and sometimes people need counselling to come to terms with things. Some diabetic clinics offer referrals - so if you feel it would help you could approach your GP - who will be able to judge whether it would help you.

Welcome to the forum 🙂

Hi Roberta
You'll find lots of support here - from a warm welcome to lots of good sound advice and guidance.
Hope you feel at home soon!
Mandy
