More than 60 people who received a free diabetes risk assessment have been referred to their GP.

The Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow, run by Diabetes UK in partnership with Bupa, visited Hinckley to identify people at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

A total of 65 people were found to be at risk of the condition and were advised to visit their doctor for further tests.

The roadshow was funded by a donation from Hinckley resident Ian Buckingham, marking the first time that the event has been sponsored by a private individual.

Ian, who has Type 1 diabetes, sponsored the event in memory of his mother Cynthia, who died last year, and his father George, who also had Type 1 diabetes and died in 1986.
