Risk of diabetes rises 58% after COVID, even amid omicron, study finds

Worrying but sadly not surprising. Covid has been linked to increased risk of diabetes for some time now (as per the link). Unclear whether this new study is again linking more to type 2 than 1.

Or it could be get C19 get a barrage of medical tests that show T2 in the 80% or more of metabolically unhealthy Americans..?
Or the jab accelerating autoimmune conditions..

The jab caused the increase in diabetes before the jab was actually used you think?

From my dim and distant memory omicron only arrived on the scene after the first bout of jabbing so...

And any study that mentions "diabetes" without specifying type can only be considered as lame to start with...

That was my reading, yes: it's just trying to confirm that the same risk occurs with infections with the "mild" Omicron.

Yes, that's irritating. I think it's probably mostly type 2. I'm imagining they're counting cases of any kind and so type 2 would dominate.

I think similar increases in risk (of diabetes and other conditions) have been reported in non-Americans too.

And if you want to bet on either a virus or a vaccine producing long term harms, the sensible money's got to be on a virus.

Your idea is that increase was caused by versions of Covid pre omicron but then omicron stopped doing it and it started being caused by vaccinations instead. Correct?

As the spike proteins are similar then who knows.. and I doubt we will ever be told the truth in any case...

We all know where the money is.. and it isn't the virus..

So "they" created vaccines which deliberately increase conditions like diabetes so they could sell both the vaccines and treatments for diabetes? The simpler explanation (it's the virus, because viruses do that kind of thing) seems adequate to me.

"The exact mechanisms for incident diabetes in "survivors" of COVID-19 are not well understood."

"Survivors" of covid? How does that differ from someone who has simply "recovered" from covid? With a 99% survival rate, using the term "survivors" infers something quite different.

Also, how many even caught the virus, let alone went on to develop the disease known as covid19?

After the elderly were carelessly booted out of the hospitals and a large proportion of them left to die through neglect (not covid), only about 6% of the general population caught the virus in the early months. See attached graph. Using "survivors" might be a more fitting term for those elderly who "survived" after being thrown out of hospital into carehomes.

Also; the study fails to even make the distinction of which type of diabetes the study relates to, nor does it make it clear about whether the study is related to sars-cov-2 infection, positive tests only or actual covid 19 disease.

btw 58% of what?
