Hi, I’m looking for some help for something that’s been happening to me lately, particularly after my breakfast. I have been having my insulin using my carb to insulin ration and waiting the 20 minutes before eating, and as expected my blood glucose levels have spiked a bit after and started to come back down but before returning to normal levels they start to go back up again to high levels without me eating anything else and I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I am currently finishing my degree and in the middle of doing assessments so am very stressed at the moment so I don’t know if stress can effect things but I’m very confused

The stress may be affecting your blood sugars.
It may be necessary to increase your basal dose. Are you able to do a basal test?

Good luck with your degree.

It might be silly of me to not know this but what is a basal test?
And thank you!

I agree that it is likely a basal insulin issue and may well be related to stress or could possibly be due to the Covid vaccine if you have had that recently as that seems to have increased my morning basal needs quite significantly. I'm currently needing 25 units of Levemir on a morning as oppose to my normal 16 to deal with it, but had to cut my evening Levemir back to zero.

That would make sense, I have had my vaccine and I didn’t realise it could effect it as well! Thank you for the help!
