hi recently been diagnosed type 1,may 24th been having bad foot pain in right foot can anyone give me any advice how to relieve this have other issues but this is getting me down cheers guys,15 years old

Hi Rhys- my son was diagnosed at 15 too- hes now 17- he always had troublesome feet mainly due to footy! even before diagnosis why dont you go to the docs and get referred to a chiropodist so he can help you. my lad had to do several stretching excercises and innersole things in his shoes-welcome by the way!

Hi Rhys, welcome to the forum.

There's a chance that high blood sugar levels are the cause of the pain, in which case it should ease off as they come down to more normal levels now you're on insulin. However, there could be any number of reasons for the pain and it would be a very good idea to discuss it with your doctor/DSN as soon as you can just to rule out anything else.

In the meantime, a heat pad, or some pain relieving gel might help ease things.

Are the doctors telling you why they think the pain isn't related to your diabetes? And if not, what do they think the cause could be?

PS: I've merged the threads so you don't have to go chasing all over the forum for answers.

If your foot pain pre-dates your T1 diagnosis by two years, I don't see how they could be connected. I think you need to push your GP to be referred to a specialist as it has been going on this long.

docs sayin nothing really been a bit of a joke general aches and pains just say take pain killers thanks for replying

Well at least youve got an appointment coming up - the docs only know general things the chiropodist will give your feet a full MOT! [ I seem to recall my lad had accupuncture ] too . anyway he used to run like Bambi playing footy [ dont laugh] and now doesnt !!! so the guy did something right

If its pains in your legs & feet i would say it was cerculation probs. I drink a lot of "Diet Tonic" water. Good luck & see Doc 🙂

i have an appointment with the chirropidist soon which will help hopefully. its nice to know im not the only one 🙂
