Relationship to Diabetes

I just wanted to share this but a while ago i posted on here that i was chatting to a work colleague who had been diagnosed with T2 diabetes and this gave him a 'kick up the backside' to lose weight and start adopting a healthy lifestyle. Anyway, i hadn't seen him for a while and happened to see him today and asked him how he was getting on with his diabetes control and he amazed me by saying that due to his weight loss he had a recent blood test and is now in the non-diabetic category again and that the doctor had said to him that he had only come across 2 people like him whereby the diabetes had been 'reversed' due to the weight loss so this is very hopeful news. He had to dash off as he had a meeting but will let me know how he did it and will pass it on 🙂

Sounds like he has learned to manage his diabetes well with the dietary adjustments he has made, and no doubt extra exercise. I'm always a bit sceptical about the use of the term 'reversed diabetes' though - he will have to maintain his behaviour and keep the weight off if he is to continue with 'non-diabetic' blood glucose levels 🙂
