.....always makes me feel a little bit nervous....fingers crossed!

Hope it goes well. 🙂

Seems to me that almost all the results we get on this forum are good, i.e. all clear or minor background changes. Could that be because those of us who use the forum tend to achieve better control as a result of the help and support we receive?

Good luck Phil. Got mine on Friday.

I'm sure all will be well and agree with Lee Lee

100% agree! I think by joining such a forum shows your intention of having good control and the care we show for ourselves.

Good luck Phil. Fingers crossed

Yes but no but, T1's are kind of lucky in many ways because we generally don't have D all THAT long before it gets spotted. But some T2s can have it years and years and only get found out eg like my (tall, thin) friend who went for a gynae op, she went for her pre-op check-over and wham. Funnily enough - not! - her gynae prob disappeared as her BG reduced.

Now - how long had she had it by that stage? So if she had retinopathy when she got her eyes checked you could hardly say it could have been prevented could you ....

And fair do's - if you wear glasses I expect your optician might notice if it was dire but why have your eyes checked anyway when you can see? - my hubby is 65 and doesn't wear glasses - except a pair of cheapo magnifying ones if eg he needs to put a screw back in MY glasses. (Since he was 60 and it was free he does actually get his tested every 2 years when I go for my annual one, but he never bothered till then and I nagged him!)

See what I mean?

You might be like me Phil - my retinopathy and me eyesight have both improved!

For the R, I'm only left with the pinprick in the left I think, eye that's been there since 1995.

For eyesight, I need a weaker reading scrip and the axis has changed!

....got my results...early diabetic retinopathy evidence. No explanations, no leaflets, not signed! just said no further action required, follow up in 12 months! .........I realise that it is nothing too much to worry about, my bgs have been very good generally in the last 12 months, maybe my BP needs working on a bit more. I have to say though that some people would have been terrified by the type and style of the letter that I received.

The whole appointment was a sham, they didn't know that I was attending and said I was in the wrong centre....I took the appointment letter with me, they finally saw me after waiting for an hour and a half, the screener was incredibly patronising and took the pictures with the window blinds open and an illuminated reading chart in my path of vision! I think I could have done it better myself!! 😡

I would complain so that others don't get the same treatment Phil. If there had been a mistake in the bookings and they weren't aware of you attending then they certainly shouldn't have taken it out on you and hsould have acted professionally - doesn't sound like they did :(

I need to book my retinopathy scan - since being discharged from the eye hospital I haven't heard a thing so suspect I've fallen off the list somewhere :(
