Abount 12 months ago, my left eye was Severe despite regulat injections. My right eye was Monderate. In twelve months my left eye has returned to Moderate while my right eye has turned to Severe. Both on Vabysmo - Sugar levels reasonably well controlled at around 5.5 / 5.6 and Opthalmologist is happy with those numbers for a 67 year old male.
I wondered if anyone else has experienced eye quality flipping without poor sugar levels. If you have, have you identified a root cause? Thanks for any guidance Regards Jeremy.

Sorry to hear about your confusing eye results @Jerrez57.

Results can seem to improve/progress for various different people, but I can understand why it would be confusing to have the grades ‘swap’ like that. Do you think it may be a mistake in the report? Would it be reassuring to get them checked again to confirm? Did you have an appointment to discuss the results, or do you have one coming up. It would be helpful to know what the eye specialists said, and their opinion on the results you’ve had.

Are you on and BP medication? Blood pressure seems to be a fairly significant factor in eye health, alongside BG management?

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I think even the consultants are confused at present. My right eye was heading towards longer injection gaps and the like but now on 4 week injection periods which at £1,000 just for the drugs each jab makes me feel very guilty. BP Meds and regular checks show me around 75/125 which the GP is Ok Eye sight deterioration from OCT scans and I've been lucky enough they show me them each time before I go in to see the consultant.. It's a real B=%g&rs muddle :(

Sorry to hear about your eye problems @Jerrez57 That sounds stressful and confusing. Don’t feel guilty about the cost though - it’s worth it to help your sight. One thought: your diabetes control is obviously good. Are the numbers you gave HbA1C results or what? One thing I was told was that it wasn’t just the average sugar that was important, but also changes. That is, spiking after food then going down quickly. Is that something that’s relevant to you and that you could look at?
