A few weeks ago I had a normal eye test at Vision Express. The optician spent a long time looking at my retinas, and could just about see a small spot in my left eye. That prompted me to chase for my screening appointment (a bit overdue as I moved to this area just after my last one was done).

The appointment was today. The technician was very good, and showed me the minuscule spot on my scan - he was amazed that the optician had seen it! He reckons that there's no immediate cause for concern (I knew that anyway thanks to this site) and said he'd be surprised if they need to invite me back in less than the usual year. Confirmation will follow, but I won't be scared to open the envelope when it arrives.

Great news LeeLee!
Always good when you're not afraid to open the envelope 🙂

Good news LeeLee, and particularly good that your optician is so observant and thorough! 🙂

Good for the optician. Glad it was a good outcome for you !

Had my Paula Carr appointment last week and asked the guy if any problems, but he said he couldn't tell me..... I've worried since but today got my results letter to say all normal.

'phew' for another year !!

LOL - years ago pre retinal photography, my optician told me I had one of those spots on one eye. So I mentioned it next time I went to see my D consultant. So he turns the light off and gets his opthalmascope and off we go peering into corners of the ceiling and floor, usual routine.

When he'd finished he asked my opticians name. I said "Mr J at Specsavers - the same chap as Steve - (another Endo at that hospital) goes to"

And he said, "Well - all I can say is, Mr J must have better eyesight than me then, cos I can't see it at all !"

Some years later when I got my first photo, there it was in all it's pinhead-sized glory!

Last scan it had gone!

Good for you Leelee!

I've got my screening tomorrow, not looking forward to it as last time I had background retinopathy. Already blind in right eye from an accident at age four so I could really do without bad news again. Fingers crossed 🙄

I have mine scheduled for 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. First time I've been to my health centre for it.

Usual optomitrist has retired form doing it so the eye hospital are going to run them at the surgery.

A bit of a shame as the optometrist (can't spell!) was an eye surgeon & she used to give you the heads up when she looked at pics on her computer screen showing them to you & explaining what she could see. Now I expect I'll have to wait for a letter in the post. I'm not good at waiting for results.

Hope your test goes OK tomorrow, hubby had background retinopathy the first test he had a few years ago & he has been clear since.

Good news LL.
