Relationship to Diabetes

In the last few months I had managed to return to a much more relaxed (for me) approach too all that is Diabetes related. I am still testing, delivering insulin and diong necessary changes on my pump to match changing patterns in output from the Libre. I had also done a switch back to Novorapid after finding FIASP didn’t work for me.

Yup that all sounds like excuses for a poorer set of results, and I had duly warned my consultant. However HbA1c = 44!!!! Very happy and looking forward to seeing my Consultant.

Well Done and good results SB

Lovely results @SB2015 and great to hear you are feeling more relaxed about all things diabetes related. 🙂

'Enjoy' your consultant appointment- that seems an odd thing to say- but I know what you mean when you have good results and are feeling better about things! 🙂

Well done! 🙂

All round, that’s a brilliant result, SB2015...A1c and everything else. 🙂 I’m really pleased for you.😛:D😛

I had also done a switch back to Novorapid after finding FIASP didn’t work for me.

Congrats on the great results!

I had a review last week, and when I mentioned that Fiasp hadn't worked for me there was a look of complete shock on the consultant's face. What made you make the switch back?

Brilliant SD, whatever you are doing is working. Keep it up🙂

I don’t think consultants read the forums.

I had an exploratory look on the red forum, which is a bit disorganised because of folk starting individual discussions on Fiasp. A lot of folk like it. One pumper found hiccups after a couple of months with boluses, then ploughed on and got back to normal. One pen user had to almost double bolus doses. The general opinion is that it it is a good thing, but some folk don’t get on with it. Fair enough, I would have thought. Some folk prefer Novorapid to Humalog. Everybody is different.

This difference never occurs to consultants.

Great result and good that you can get that with a more relaxed approach - brings you confidence!
I would like to try fiasp, but our hospital won't perscribe it.

I guess my surprise was that of the people I know who have started with it, about 50%, maybe more, have needed to switch back after a short while for a variety of reasons (rising doses, unpredictable action, loss of rapid action) whereas this seemed unknown in my clinic.

I wonder if the reduced effect after a while (or the having to increase dose) may be because they have added non-insulin molecules to it to make it faster. Do some folks systems recognise this as alien materials that get gobbled up before it has a chance to work?

Thanks Mike

FIASP worked well and continued to act more quickly, but this advantage was far outweighed by the very painful stinging with every bolus, and every cannula site giong skanky within a day. Too much hassle.
I reported it on the yellow ‘card’ but it was included with all the fast acting insulins rather than specifically for FIASP. I shall mention it at my next appointment with the consulatant.

That's so good to hear, that you are relaxed and have a good result. Fantastic! Any celebrations going to happen?
