Hi everyone. Just a little update, 11 months in.
Had a busy day, left work early 7-10. Appointment to have ultrasound on one of my shoulders at 11; that showed numerous areas of calcification (no surprise really 🙄🙄). He asked how much pain I was in and I said not a lot, just a few limitations in movement, he was most surprised 😱 - can’t say the same for when it flares up of course. He thinks possibly need guided injections or operation, I’m laughing rather than crying at this point.:confused: The report will be sent to the MSK team for when I have my appointment, probably in months to come!!
At 3 I had my appointment with the Diabetes care team with up-to-date blood results. HbA1c gone up but only by 2 to 45 which she was very happy with 🙂. Still to stay on 2 Metformin. She looked at food diary and said I am fairly sensitive to carbs, no surprise there either. 🙄Definitely thinks I’m T2 and not T1 but then she said it could possibly change as I get older but she doesn’t think so!!😛 Discharged back to GP but happy to see me again if I need.
Called in to Aldi in the way home to get a few bits and spent £40 😱 now I’m done in. 😳 Back up at 5.30 for work tomorrow so best get tea on.

Hi SueEK,
If Metformin is and remains your only Diabetes medication and you manage to keep your BGs around current levels, then there is every reason to expect that your pancreas will keep producing enough Insulin.
Today (in the other Forum) I saw a recent report which says that only around 6% even of badly controlled, Obese Type 2's, even those on Insulin can't actually make enough Insulin from their pancreas. That is their Beta Cells are still functioning well (or well enough). If I recall correctly their average time since diagnosis was more than 10yrs.

For the more science minded, here is a link to the report: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1871402119305715?via=ihub

Thanks @ianf0ster, I had the T1 tests and she said I was making enough insulin so hopefully that will continue. My levels did rise as soon as I stopped Metformin but as you say if it does the trick then I shan’t complain. I don’t have any problems with it so it’s just the daily battle with food haha! Everyone’s diabetes is so individual isn’t it?
