Four key subtypes of pancreatic cancer have been identified as researchers hail breakthrough in treatment of deadly disease.

Experts hope the discovery will enable the creation of new treatments for pancreatic cancer , which is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths Western countries.

Researchers at Glasgow University identified subtypes each with their own distinct clinical characteristics and differential survival outcomes.

Pancreatic cancer is currently the fourth leading cause of cancer death in Western societies, and is projected to be the second most common within a decade.

I think they must definitely be correct when they say it's on the increase.

I never knew nor read nor hear of ANYONE having pancreatic cancer until I met Pete in 1993, and chatting at times thereafter it came out to me that his Dad died of it in the 1960s so his mam was a widow from his mid/late teens.

Just look at how many members on here we have, though we've only ever had 2 I think on DSF, but we are a smaller forum than this. I mean it still isn't shedloads but in comparison to me only ever having heard about 'Grandad Jim' until I was over 60, now 'speaking' to two or 3 several times a week - is a mega increase in my book.

A couple of people I new passed away with this. Good luck for there research.
