So I went to the research centre in the hospital today to have my libre sensors fitted for the two week triaI I am doing.I have one on each arm with a reader each and test strips to put in one reader.

I have to do a finger blood test at least four times with the freestyle test strip and then do a sensor reading on both arms at the same time with the readers.

I can then do readings at any time with one of the readers. So far I love it and the finger reading and the sensors match numbers very closely.

I am hoping I don't love it too much as I don't know if i can afford it after the two week trial. It's already given me a sense of relief and reassurance as I have a slight phobia of hypos so I can test to my hearts content.

I can't wait to see what my overnight readings are.

Good luck Flo 🙂 They can be very addictive, unfortunately! 😱 I started using them last April, but stopped in November and it has taken quite a while to wean myself off! 🙂 It's good that both are fairly in synch, as they can be slightly variable. Most of mine have measured about 1-2 mmol/l below a fingerprick reading, but some have shown a greater discrepancy and a couple have failed (replaced free). I was particularly interested in my overnight readings, and even more so when I saw how swiftly my levels started to rise the moment I raised my head from the pillow! 😱 🙂

p.s. I'm a huge fan of the Pig of Happiness in your avatar! :D I have a fridge magnet of him! 🙂

Thanks for taking part in the trial - they seem to have been running similar ones for a while now, gathering lots of useful info.

The libre test strip reads at 6.3, and the readers say 5.1 and 5.2. I have ran out of my prescription accu chek nano test strips but sd code free reads at 6.3. I think it will be addictive, I think I may already be addicted.
Ps I have a chopping board with the pig of happiness on it 🙂

I have portraits of pigs in my hall and bedroom, wooden pigs with leather ears and tails in the lounge and a number of 'Piggin' Out' statues also in the bedroom, and a lovely silver brooch with a swineherd bringing home the bacon! I had to stop people buying me piggy ornaments cos it's a small house being overrun with piggies, however much I love 'em! - and have to find enough room for bits of Wedgewood, cut glass and the odd Monet etc! (Print unfortunately)

I forgot - I also have a cast iron doorstop of 3 pigs standing on each other's backs, and a very large black pig ornament (not an ornament of the Black Pig, this one IS a pig, weighs a ton) in the living room. Every grandchild and Great grandchild, once toddling, has used it to sit on astride it, though nobody has ever suggested they should do that. I'm pleased - doesn't hurt Pig - and it's part of their individual voyage of discovery, isn't it? (cos they were all and are all, different ages)

As a child I had a family of imaginary pigs that lived in the hole in the wall by my bed.
My Dad made them a bright red door and carpeted the entrance inside.

Love the thought of all the children sitting on the pig 🙂

What a fab Dad, and what a lovely memory.

Not identical, ours has an integrally cast stand under the biggest pig, finished in green. LOL However - they are also Gloucester Old Spots like yours! Holds the kitchen door (the one into the hall not the back door) - open.

I love the libre so far. My bloods were great on waking but as soon as I got up they kept rising. Also noticed that I probably need novorapid in for a few minutes before eating my lunch like I already do for my breakfast.
The Libre is so informative. A rise when you get your feet on the floor is quite common, so a correction on top of the carb insulin may be needed at breakfast, or beforehand to allow it to get giong. Certainly working out timings is a lot easier with the Libre. Enjoy it.

I have really seen today that i need to inject novorapid at least 15 minutes before I eat any meal, i have a big spike 1 hour after eating then two / three hours later it comes right down. I was pleased with my over night readings though as I stayed roughly the same all night. I am enjoying it all and I am negotiating door frames well. My son is also enjoying scanning me sometimes lol . I am having a late flu jab tomorrow so not sure how my bloods will be, hopefully they won't get too messed up. I am finding both the sensors that I am wearing are virtually the same reading wise and my finger pricks are always about 1mmol more than the sensor.

Your experiences mirror mine 🙂 Levels might increase a bit after the flu jab, but it will be fairly obvious if they do as a consequence of the jab 🙂 Oh dear! I think you are already addicted! 😱 :D

I thought the pig thing was funny didnt get it but made me smile, i had a pig between my bread bun ( ok bread cake, stottie that will open up a debate lol) this morning tasted great with HP Sauce loll

Don't worry I had pig with Daddies brown sauce last night for tea , has to be Daddies though, the only brown sauce I like. I used to love brown sauce sandwiches too.

Well that lasted a long time !! One sensor has come away already. I do have a spare one but if that only last two days...

Crikey! 😱 Some people do appear to have problems with adhesion, although mine have all stayed happily in place, just coming away slightly as the 14 days approaches. Hope the next one stays on better! Such a shame as they both seemed to be working so well :( Abbott should replace the one that came off 🙂

With the trial I got a spare for each arm. I have got some hypafix tape coming tomorrow so may wait till I get that and then put the other sensor on. The hospital research centre are phoning me today anyway so at least I can tell them. I think I jinxed it by telling the nurse how fantastic it was whilst having my flu jab.

Sorry to hear one fell, off, Abbott should replace it they will want that sensor back .
I’ve read that you should not cover the hole in the sensor, think it’s to do with evaporation/ airflow .
I’ve not had one fall off yet ( not lost my chance tho lol.

I agree with Northener, your already addicted :D
The the amount of info they give is amazing, my control has improved no end since I got mine, I’m sure yours will too.
