Hospital patients in Malawi are set to benefit thanks to a collaboration between local charity F.R.O.M. Scotland (Famine Relief for Orphans in Malawi) and NHS Grampian.

Over 180 old hospital beds have been donated to the charity by NHS Grampian, and the first consignment of 65 were loaded into shipping containers by volunteers from the charity on Friday (July 18) to be sent to Chikwawa District Hospital in the south of Malawi, where medical supplies are constantly in short supply.

In fact as FROM Scotland Chairman Lewis Taylor told the Herald, some wards in Malawian hospitals have no beds at all and patients are treated lying on the floor, with the luckier ones having perhaps a mattress.
