Recovery from Erectile Dysfunction if lower Hb1ac

Diagnosed type 2. Have 1ac of 98. On metformin. Haven't had election for 6 months. If my 1ac comes down to under 7 in next three months how long will blood vessel and any nerve damage take to recover? Also my libido is zero. Cialis no effect on max dose. Thanks.

I think your last sentence suggests one thing. Cialis only works if you are in the mood. You might be better off with viagra? I think the latter is cheaper for the Nhs now as well.

Regarding the blood vessel and nerve damage, I think it is a case of wait and see. It depends on how long you were undiagnosed and actually how much damage was done.

In my case I definitely have reduced feeling and this has not improved since diagnosis 8 years ago. But the cialis works for me most times with the occasional fail when I am worrying about other things!

Libido 0 I think is the problem. Being diagnosed with diabetes and have to readjust the diet may cause a bad mood and a bad mood kills the sex drive.
No interest on sex means no erection.

Thanks guys. Waiting on testosterone result too. Mood 0 for 6 months. Can manage semi flaccid about once a week. Then rather go for a walk! Just have to wait and see. Doc said it would return if get 1ac down to 6.5. Guess time will tell. Gf getting fed up.

There are also 'mechanical' means of obtaining the required state of affairs you know - but any of these things depends on the blood vessels not having been damaged too much, although they don't rely on completely working nerves.

My husband and I (he's had prostate cancer not diabetes) both regard it as a voyage of discovery in our sex life, rather than an obstacle!

Repeating my first post here as it seems relevant. I was diagnosed a type 2 diabetic four years ago, but since then I lost 60lbs. I'm now told that I'm back to pre-diabetic, but am staying on Canagliflozin as it is also supposed to have benefits for those with mild heart failure. I am 75. The diabetes has worsened my ED and I've lost the ability to get an erection even with maximum doze of Viagra or Cialis. Penis pumps provide a very temporary erection, but it almost instantly dies (in seconds). My question is - now I am only borderline diabetic, will the sensitivity return to my glans or is it lost forever? Thank you. I should add that I can ejaculate with very strong vibrations and from oral sex, but can no longer penetrate a vagina.

The original poster of this thread hasn’t visited the forum for over s year, so is unlikely to offer any updates I‘m afraid @Postar

However it was interesting to note that Ronald’s GP had suggested recovery of sensation and blood flow was possible
Just have to wait and see. Doc said it would return if get 1ac down to 6.5

6.5% is equivalent to an HbA1c of 48mmol/mol in the up to date numbers.

Thank you. Mine is now down to 4.3%, but no sign.

Is it 4.3% or 43mmol/mol? It would be quite unusual to be given an HbA1c in % numbers these days (the mmol/mol units came in 10 years ago!)
