Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Hi All Ive recently been informed Im pre diabetic and need to change my diet and loose weight. But some low calorie food still have lots of carbs. Im clueless as to what to eat and to how many carbs I can have daily. Appreciate any help.

Your ability to cope with carbs should govern how many you eat. Many people find that they can return to normal numbers by concentrating on low carb foods, meat fish, eggs cheese, seafood, full fat yoghurt and berries rather than any fruits with a higher sugar content.
Forget calories, as low carb foods are nourishing, can help your metabolism recover and restore normality quite quickly - though there will probably be an inability to deal with carbs in future - but the things we can eat definitely make up for that.

I have just bought Pinch of Nom, Quick and Easy and there are some lovely low carb recipes but I also have the Diabetes Weight-Loss cookbook by Katie & Giancarlo Caldesi , The Keto Kitchen also have some good recipes. But plenty on the internet if you don't want to pay money.

I use all three pinch of nom books extensively as well as all three of Tom Kerridge's books. Just select the lower carb recipes

Tom Kerridge’s Dopamine Diet book consists entirely of low carb recipes, and all are tasty.

My go-to low carb cook books are:

Sarah Flower Eating to Beat Type 2 diabetes
Annie Bell Low Carb Revolution
Good Food Low Carb Cooking

and Justine Pattison’s Without the Calories series and Jamie Oliver‘s more recent books give nutritional info including carb count for their recipes at the back of their books. Both have some lovely low carb recipes.
