Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello,
I was diagnosed with Type1 (.5?) in September & have been browsing diabetes.org.uk on & off since. It's been a steep learning curve (especially as I'm not in the UK & so am dealing with it in a second language) but sites like this have been really helpful & encouraging.
Now it's time I need to take the plunge & ask a few questions. See you on the General message board.

Hi Brinley, welcome to the forum 🙂 I will look forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome to the forum / benvenuto al forum, Brinley.

Don't worry too much about language - it does really help when your profile reminds us that Italian is your first language, so we can try harder at understanding what you mean (so far, very easy!) / explaining what we mean.

hi

thank you for making me feel welcome!
PS Actually English is my first language, it's the Italian I struggle in, although yesterday I have to say I was struggling in English too (although when I checked my BG it was a scary 17.2, a valid excuse?!)

I did wonder about your languages 🙂

It's good strategy to check blood glucose levels when you feel odd. Eventually, you'll probably be able to correlate your blood glucose levels roughly with how you feel.

Hi Brinley and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Welcome to the forum Brinley 🙂

Hi Brinley, modern tech, the world is getting smaller. My son 12 plays mathletics with kids from Australia, london,South Africa. What part of Italy are you from ? I have been to Italy twice on my M/bike to Bardoneccia. Where the winter Olympics were held, The stella is a high mountain that a lot of mad people try to go up on there bikes. (10ft snow drifts in june) Forgive my spelling. Hope you are getting sorted 🙂

Yes, the world is definitely shrinking! I'm based in the grim industrial north here in Italy Although on a clear day you can see the mountains from the end of my road. Mountain bike? Good to know that people still get to carry on with sports - there will be light at the end of the tunnel!
