I've recently been diagnosed with type 2 and have been prescribed Metformin.
Do I need to let the DVLA know or is that only if type 1/insulin dependent?

So much to get my head around :(

Welcome to the forum. Have you also been advised about making some dietary changes as even with medication it is still needed. How high your HbA1C is will indicate how much work you will need to do.
As all carbohydrates convert to glucose it is those food which are high carb which you will need to cut out of only have is small portions.
Have a look at this link which I found very helpful and made perfect sense. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
It is a low carb approach which many find successful but that does not mean NO carbs. A suggested starting point for reducing carbs is no more than 130g carbs per day. It does involve weighing portions and looking up carb values but you soon get a good idea of what is what.
I found the book Carbs and Cals very useful (there is an app also) as it shows carb values for various portion sizes of a whole range of foods so helps making better choices.

Yes, I’ve changed my diet completely and have become much more active. My aim is to get into remission so I won’t need the meds.
